Very nice pots without any holes in the bottom are often found in home improvement stores. We are attracted by the appearance and we buy them for our houseplants. 2 Check soil moisture with a stick

A popular tip for testing the moisture content of a pot is to stick a long stick into the pot. However, this can do much more harm than good. Many plants have fragile root systems that regular moisture checks can damage them. Even if you do it very carefully, it is easy to upset the balance. Loosening the ground with sticks is not worth it for the same reason.

It is better to buy an inexpensive moisture sensor that will signal a lack of moisture in the soil. Usually it is once stuck into the ground and left in a pot.

3 Water all plants on the same day

A common habit is to allocate one day a week and water all the plants at once. Often we do it on weekends, as there is free time. However, each flower in your apartment should have its own watering schedule. It depends on the type of plant, the substrate in which it is located, the size of its pot and even the location in the house, since a large amount of sun dries the soil faster.

It is best to have a schedule, you can even draw a table on paper, so as not to forget to water the plants you need. And on the weekend, when there is time, check which flowers lack moisture, which ones need to be transplanted or cut off. In this mode, they will feel much better.

6 Pour the remaining water in the cup into the pot

Another habit that harms plants is pouring leftover water from a cup or baby bottle into a pot instead of down the sink. Many feel sorry for wasting water, so they think that additional watering of flowers will not hurt. However, with this approach, plants may receive too much liquid or, conversely, experience a shortage if you decide that such watering is enough for them. Eventually the flowers will die.

7 Believe advertising and bloggers

In beautiful pictures on the Internet or in professionally shot videos, houseplants are often used as decoration. They are framed to enliven the image and add bright colors. However, most photogenic plants cannot be kept under the conditions that we are shown.

Repeating the plot from the picture at home, we often make the mistake of putting the flowers in a place where they will feel bad. For example, in the bright sun they will get burned, and in the corner of the living room they will not have enough light. You should not trust the photographs, it is better to study the features of caring for the plant and independently adapt it to your home conditions.
