The era of plaids as a cape on upholstered furniture is a thing of the past, which means that a lot of stains from food and drinks can get on its upholstery. In order not to spend money on dry cleaning services, we suggest you try effective ways to clean the sofa at home. Please note that some of the following substances are quite active — first test them on an inconspicuous area of the sofa or on a separate piece of its upholstery.
one Ammonium chloride from fruit and juice stains
A general tip for all fruit stains is to remove them as quickly as possible after they appear. In some cases, delay can be fatal and, for example, traces of cherries or blueberries will remain with you until the furniture is replaced. To remove stains from fruits or fruit juices, prepare a solution of ammonia and vinegar in equal proportions. It is applied to the upholstery, the fabric is wiped, then washed off with water. You can choose a more gentle means — a soap solution. It is even more important here to act quickly and apply it to the pollution as soon as it appears. The soap is left for half an hour, after which it is washed off.

2 Vinegar for tea, coffee and beer stains
Tea and coffee have powerful coloring pigments and leave stubborn stains. The beer is painted a little less, but the trace will still be noticeable. If you accidentally spill one of these drinks on your sofa, blot up the cloth immediately and soak up excess liquid with a paper towel or microfiber cloth. After that, prepare a cleaning agent: add two tablespoons of vinegar to the soapy solution. The surface is wiped with this solution, after which you need to re-walk with a damp cloth and wash off the remnants of the stain and cleaning agent.
3 Salt and alcohol for wine stains
It is difficult to remove a trace of wine from any fabric, whether it is clothes or upholstery of upholstered furniture. Nevertheless, you can try to make it less noticeable — and if you’re lucky, get rid of it altogether — you can. Immediately after the wine hits the fabric, the spilled liquid is sprinkled with a layer of salt. After the wine is partially absorbed into the salt, it is removed, and the dirt remaining on the sofa is wiped with alcohol.

four Ice from stuck chewing gum
The chewing gum itself does not leave stains on the upholstery of the sofa, but it can firmly stick to the surface, after which it will collect dust and dirt from above. You can try to remove freshly stuck chewing gum with ice. Any frozen product is applied for a while to the problem area and, after hardening, it is removed with the blunt side of a knife or other convenient object. Do not use sharp blades to avoid damaging the upholstery.
5 Starch from grease stains
An accidental oil mark from the upholstery can be removed in the following way. A fresh stain of grease should be blotted with a paper towel so that some of the oil is absorbed into it. After that, talc or cornstarch must be applied to the contamination and left for 10 minutes. After the specified period, the surface is thoroughly cleaned of starch residues.

6 Shaving foam from chocolate residue
You can remove a chocolate stain from a sofa in a very interesting way. To begin with, the remnants of sweetness are scraped off the surface. After that, white shaving foam is applied to the contamination. It should be left for 10-15 minutes to be absorbed, after which, using paper napkins, carefully wipe the surface.
