Citric acid is a universal cleaning agent; of all home, perhaps the most effective and convenient to use. The main effect for which everyone fell in love with «lemon» is that it makes any surface shine. Of course, this is exactly what chrome plumbing needs. Limescale and stains of any degree can be removed with citric acid mixed with water, or even ordinary lemon, the difference will be only in the intensity and duration of cleaning.

2 Divorces on shower screens

Despite the abundance of specialized bathroom products, citric acid does not give up its position. Including it will well clean the walls of the shower cabin or the glass partition from water stone and stains. To do this, wipe the surface with a damp cloth to remove soap and foam residue, combine 0.5 liters of hot water and 100 g of citric acid, pour the solution into a spray bottle and spray heavily on contaminated areas. Leave for 5 minutes, repeat if necessary, and at the end of cleaning, wipe the surface with a dry, lint-free cloth.

3 Washing machine

And although the washing machine is designed to help us in the household, it also needs care. It is necessary to clean the internal surfaces of the equipment every few months. Citric acid can help with this. Pour two tablespoons of lemon powder into the drum, select the longest setting and set the temperature to high. Such a “wash” will remove scale from the walls and insides of the machine and disinfect the surfaces.

Anyone who indulged in childhood, throwing lemon slices into a boiling kettle, knows what effect it has — all scale disappears and the walls shine. You can do this now, but purchased citric acid will have a more noticeable effect. After boiling with it, the kettle inside should be thoroughly cleaned and, just in case, boiled with plain water, then drained.

Silver appliances and jewelry are beautiful, but darken rather quickly. However, in the presence of citric acid, this problem is not critical — with its help, the metal is easily cleaned. Dilute 100 g of «lemon» in 0.5 liters of water and heat the solution. Then put silver objects in it and keep it all in a water bath for about half an hour. After the procedure, rinse the instruments and dry with a towel.

6 Microwave

Even covering food in the microwave with a special protective plate, we do not 100% protect the oven walls from dirt and grease. For cleaning, take a glass bowl with about 0.5 liters of water and add a tablespoon of citric acid to it or squeeze the juice of fresh lemon (the method is good, but more gentle). Put the plate inside the appliance, select a powerful and long mode. After heating, do not open the door immediately — let the steam settle on the walls and soften the dirt. After 5 minutes, they can be wiped with a damp cloth or sponge. The advantage of the method is also in the aroma of lemon — it interrupts the old smells of food.

7 Cutting boards

Regular washing of cutting boards along with ordinary dishes is not enough, and it is better to carry out additional processing once every 1-2 weeks. Sprinkle the board with coarse salt, and then rub either with half a lemon or with a sponge dipped in diluted citric acid. Then just rinse thoroughly. The method will help to remove food stains and get rid of the stubborn smell.
